Participants then enter the purification pool and normally move from the left side toward the right, following the sacred waterspouts in order.

4. Dress Code and What to Bring

Respectful clothing is important when visiting Tirta Empul, both inside the temple and while joining the purification ritual.

• Temple Area: Wear modest clothing that covers the shoulders, along with a kamen or sarong and a sash tied around the waist.

• Melukat Pool: A special melukat sarong, often green or decorated with traditional Balinese patterns, is commonly worn in the purification pool and can usually be rented on-site. Wearing swimwear underneath can make changing easier and more comfortable.
